MEET THE DOULA

Hi! I'm Eleanor Burke.

she/hers

Your dreams for your birth and postpartum matter. As a doula, my approach is rooted in Earth-loving and family inclusive practices. I value our interconnectedness with one other and the Earth, and weave my training as an herbalist into my birth work.

Birth and postpartum used to be a time when we were supported and nurtured by our communities. Historically, cultures around the world celebrated these times with care in the form of: warming foods and beverages, herbal teas and baths, bodywork, songs and rituals. We relied on the wisdom of those around us, instead of relying on information based in a medical framework. I believe we all carry intuitive ancestral memories of how to live deeply, fully, and how to birth. Birth happens all the time—it’s practical and common. I’m here to remind you of that. Birth is a rite of passage. It’s my honor to bear witness and support you and your family through that passage.

My work is centered in an anti-racist/anti-oppressive/de-colonial framework. It is imperfect and ongoing. I am dedicated to life long learning and critical thinking.

“The birth giver, the life giver?
Are they being treated with respect?
Are they being treated with care, love, tenderness, reverence?
Are they being treated with warmth?
Are they being treated well?
We want our babies to open their eyes and see an environment that is welcoming, that feels safe.
We want them to know this is a good place to be. This is a good choice they've made, to come down here to earth."

- Raeanne Madison, Postpartum Healing Lodge

“BIRTH IS A MOMENT.

POSTPARTUM IS FOREVER.”
